Indianola residents and visitors are advised to prepare for temporary road closures on Saturday, April 18, as the Indianola First Assembly Youth Group hosts a series of running events throughout the community.

Please plan ahead, watch for increased pedestrian activity and allow extra travel time during the event.

We appreciate the community’s support and cooperation in helping ensure a safe and successful event.

General Safety Tips & Reminders

• Be alert for runners and spectators throughout the morning.
• Follow all posted closures and detours.
• Obey instructions from volunteers and law enforcement officers.
• Drive cautiously near race routes and rerouted intersections.
• Leave early if you need to travel through or near the affected areas.

About the Event

Event Schedule

• Timed 10K
• Timed 5K
• 1‑Mile Fun Run/Walk

Races will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at approximately 11 a.m.

Road Closures (8:00-11:00 a.m.)

• South Buxton Street between West Ashland Avenue and West Salem Avenue
• West Salem Avenue between South Buxton Street and North J Street

Event volunteers will be positioned at additional intersections along the race routes to help direct traffic and assist participants.

Race Routes

10K

The 10K race will start and finish on South Buxton Street at the Indianola Downtown Square. Runners will:

1. Head south on S Buxton Street to W 1st Avenue.
2. Continue west on W 1st Avenue to N G Street.
3. Travel north on N G Street to W Salem Avenue.
4. Go west on W Salem Avenue to S P Street.
5. Turn south on S P Street and continue to the Indianola First Assembly parking lot.
6. Follow the route to Kenwood, heading south to the Highway 92 north sidewalk.
7. Continue west along the Highway 92 north sidewalk to the Catholic church parking lot entrance, then turn around.
8. Head east on the Highway 92 north sidewalk to N Y Street.
9. Go north on N Y Street to W Euclid Avenue.
10. Continue west on W Euclid Avenue to N W Street.
11. Travel north on N W Street to W Girard Avenue, then east to N U Street.
12. Head south back to W Euclid Avenue.
13. Continue west on W Euclid Avenue to North N Street.
14. Go south to W Clinton Avenue, then east to N J Street.
15. Continue south to W Salem Avenue, then east to S Buxton Street.
16. Finish by heading north on S Buxton Street to the start/finish line.

5K

The 5K race will also start and finish on South Buxton Street at the Indianola Downtown Square. Participants will:

1. Proceed south on S Buxton Street to W 1st Avenue.
2. Head west on W 1st Avenue to N G Street.
3. Continue north on N G Street to W Salem Avenue.
4. Travel west on W Salem Avenue to N Kenwood Boulevard.
5. Go north on N Kenwood Boulevard to W Euclid Avenue.
6. Head east on W Euclid Avenue to N I Street.
7. Continue south on N I Street to W Boston Avenue.
8. Travel west on W Boston Avenue to N J Street.
9. Go south on N J Street to W Salem Avenue.
10. Head east on W Salem Avenue to S Buxton Street.
11. Conclude by heading north on S Buxton Street to the start/finish location.

1‑Mile Fun Run/Walk

The 1‑mile race will start and end on South Buxton Street at the Indianola Downtown Square. Participants will:

1. Head south on S Buxton Street to W 1st Avenue.
2. Travel west on W 1st Avenue to N E Street.
3. Go north on N E Street to W Salem Avenue.
4. Head east on W Salem Avenue to S Buxton Street.
5. Finish by heading north on S Buxton Street to the start/finish line.
