    Some of Iowa’s earliest settlers played an important role in the underground railroad which helped thousands of enslaved men, women, and children find the road to freedom. Learn about these local heroes and helpers who were part of Iowa’s Underground Railroad with Gale Brubaker, Executive Director of the West Des Moines Historical Society. The WDMHS is located at the historic Jordan House Museum, the only Central Iowa location on the John Brown Freedom Trail that’s open to the public. Find out more at www.wdmhs.org
