[ARCHIVED] Red Flag Warnings Issued for Friday, March 27 & Saturday, March 28

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for portions of southwest and west‑central Iowa, including Indianola and Warren County, from noon to 9 p.m. Friday, March 27.

Another Red Flag Warning will be in effect for much of the state from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, March 28, the National Weather Service announced at 11:52 a.m. Friday.

A Red Flag Warning means critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly.

Breezy northwest winds, along with cured fuels and relative humidity values in the 20s across southern and much of central Iowa, will create critical fire weather conditions, the National Weather Service said. Conditions will remain hazardous on Saturday, with even stronger southwest winds, lower humidity, warmer temperatures and dry fuels leading to continued critical fire weather concerns.

Outdoor burning of any kind is not recommended.
