UPDATE: The Indianola City Council held a regular meeting on Monday, July 7. Among the items Council approved were:
- The final payment, final acceptance, and retainage release for the West Clinton Avenue culvert replacement project.
- Final Pay Application Number 7, Final Acceptance, and Retainage Release for the Traffic Signal Improvements at Buxton Street and 2nd Avenue.
- A professional services agreement with HR Green for Fiscal Year 2025-2026 on-call general engineering service.

During the meeting, Mayor Steve Richardson proclaimed July 2025 as “Parks & Recreation Month” in Indianola, encouraging all citizens to enjoy essential spaces throughout the community and participate in the programs the Indianola Parks & Recreation Department offers. We’re grateful for our dedicated staff and volunteers who make our parks, trails, and activities modern, fun, safe and highly valued.
Additionally, Mayor Richardson and the Council approved a resolution urging federal legislators to protect funding for the TRIO program, which supports over 160 first-generation, low-income and disabled Simpson College students. The program helps students access higher education, and its future is currently at risk.
The next regular Council meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday July 21. The meeting is open to the public and will be held in the Council Chambers at Indianola City Hall, located at 110 N 1st Street, Indianola, IA 50125.
