Square Reconstruction (Streetscape) Petition Dismissed
At its meeting on September 7, the State Appeal Board (SAB) unanimously dismissed the second petition brought against the City of Indianola regarding the Square Reconstruction (Streetscape) project (the first petition was also dismissed). This project, which will replace sewer lines and water mains that are 70 to more than 100-years-old and undersized for modern-day standards, is currently underway. Square Reconstruction (Streetscape) Project Update
Phase 1 of the Square Reconstruction Project continued this week with mainline paving along Salem Avenue between Buxton and Howard Streets, as well as the placement of curb and gutter on Salem between B and Buxton Streets. Additionally, subgrade preparations, including rock chamber preparation and subdrain installation for permeable pavers, on Buxton Street began. Next week, curb and gutter installation will continue on Salem Avenue between Buxton and Howard Streets, subgrade preparation will continue on Buxton Street, and sidewalk ramps will be constructed at the intersection of Salem Avenue and B Street. It is anticipated that Phase 1 construction will be completed by mid-November.

Planning and Zoning Commission
The Indianola Planning and Zoning Commission will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, September 14. Of the 16 projects listed, eight are in review, two have been approved and are awaiting construction to begin, and six are in construction.
This week, two (2) building permits were submitted. There are currently 18 building permit applications in review and 139 building permits have been issued year-to-date.
There are currently 24 open code enforcement cases (112 code enforcement cases have been opened for the year).
