[ARCHIVED] Kennedy Street Structure Fire Under Investigation

Indianola Fire Crews work to extinguish a fire at a residence during the early morning.

At approximately 1:32 a.m. on Monday, March 24, the Indianola Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 15516 Kennedy Street. Upon arrival, crews encountered a fully involved structure fire and immediately began suppression efforts.

Recognizing the extent of the fire, mutual aid was requested early, and personnel from the Milo Fire Department, Hartford Fire Department, Northern Warren Fire Department and Martensdale Fire Department responded to assist. Their coordinated efforts ensured that the fire was contained and extinguished efficiently.

Fortunately, the home was unoccupied at the time of the fire, and no civilian injuries were reported. Additionally, there were no firefighter injuries or fatalities during the incident.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and further details will be released as they become available.

“We are grateful for the swift response and teamwork of our department and our mutual aid partners,” Indianola Fire Chief Aaron Hurt said. “Fires of this magnitude require coordinated efforts, and this response demonstrated the dedication and professionalism of our local fire service.”

The Indianola Fire Department extends its gratitude to the assisting agencies for their prompt response and teamwork. We also want to remind the public to ensure that their smoke alarms are functioning and to practice fire safety measures in their homes.
