The City of Indianola requests your input about safety on our roads, trails and sidewalks, as part of the Central Iowa Regional Transportation Planning Alliance (CIRTPA) regional Safety Action Plan.
CIRPTA has organized a public survey regarding transportation safety in these communities and invites you to share your feedback. According to CIRPTA officials, the survey solicits the experiences, concerns and ideas from the public that will be used to develop an actionable plan to improve safety.
The public may respond to a series of questions or place comments on an interactive map. Survey responses and interactive map comments may be submitted now through August 31, 2024.
Thank you for participating in this important process to improve safety for all transportation users.
About the Safety Action Plan
On Tuesday, July 9, CIRTPA officials held a public information meeting in Indianola at the Indianola Wellness Campus for community members to learn more about the plan and provide feedback in an open-house format. The plan is being developed through the Safe Streets for All program, which aims to prevent deaths and serious injuries for all users on the nation's roadways. The goal of the regional Safety Action Plan is to enhance roadway safety and identify solutions and strategies for all people using the road – including drivers, passengers, pedestrians, bicyclists, transit users and people with disabilities.
Furthermore, the plan is being developed for the incorporated cities within Boone, Dallas, Jasper, Madison, Marion, Story and Warren Counties. The unincorporated portions of the counties are part of a separate project, CIRPTA officials added.
