Annual Reading Challenge - How It Works

Read, attend events, use your library, earn prizes. Runs June 1st through July 31st.

Kids - birth through (finished) 3rd grade

• Pick up a paper Reading Log at library front desk
• Earn a spin on the prize wheel for every 7 days that you read 20 minutes or more
• Complete the Reading Challenge to earn an awesome backpack AND a book to keep
• Complete the Discovery Challenge to earn 2 extra spins on the prize wheel

Tweens - (finished) 4th or 5th grade

Scratch Tickets

• Earn scratch tickets when you check items out from the library, attend library events, sign up for Loot Box, and turn in book reviews
• Winning scratch tickets earn an immediate prize
• Losing scratch tickets become raffle tickets for End-of-Summer Tween Grand Prizes

Super-Readers - *For those who want an extra challenge*

• Pick up a Super-Reader Reading Log at library front desk to track your reading this summer
• Complete the Reading Challenge by reading 20 minutes per day for 28 days
• Super-Readers are still encouraged to get scratch tickets by attending events, checking out library items, and turning in book reviews!

Teens - (finished) 6th - 12th grade

Scratch Tickets

• Earn scratch tickets when you check items out from the library, attend library events, sign up for UNBOXED, and turn in book reviews
• Winning scratch tickets earn an immediate prize
• Losing scratch tickets become raffle tickets for End-of-Summer Teen Grand Prizes

Super-Readers - *For those who want an extra challenge*

• Pick up a Reading Journal (choose either paper or digital pdf) to track your reading this summer
  • Digital pdfs can be used with pdf annotation apps like Notability, GoodNotes, Noteshelf, PDFelement, PDF Expert, and many others...
  • Want a physical copy? Pick one up at the library, or print one at home.
• Choose between tracking by time OR tracking by book within your reading journal
• Complete the Reading Challenge by reading either for 28 days OR finish reading 8 books
• Super-Readers are still encouraged to get scratch tickets by attending events, checking out library items, and turning in book reviews!

Adults - age 18+

By Book

• Pick up a paper log at the library front desk OR track your reading online HERE. (Check back later in May to sign up for the online reading log.)
• Earn a raffle ticket for every 2 books that you read
• Complete the Reading Challenge by reading 8 books
• Earn extra raffle tickets by attending events and submitting book reviews

By Time

• Pick up a paper log at the library front desk OR track your reading online HERE. (Check back later in May to sign up for the online reading log.)
• Earn a raffle ticket for every 7 days that you read
• Complete the Reading Challenge by reading for 4 weeks
• Earn extra raffle tickets by attending events and submitting book reviews
