Special Election

A special election shall be held on March 2, 2021 to elect a Mayor for the City of Indianola. The filing period to run for office is November 17, 2020 through Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. Filing papers can be found on the Iowa Secretary of State’s office at https://sos.iowa.gov/elections/electioninfo/cityelections.html.  

Papers need to be filed at City Hall with the Indianola City Clerk at 110 N 1st St no later than 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2021.  Please use the South entrance and check in at the Police lobby window. 

On Thursday, October 29, 2020, the Indianola City Council appointed Pamela Pepper as Mayor of Indianola for the remainder of the current term.  The full press release can be found at:

Chapter 15 of the City Code of Ordinances

Chapter 15 of the City Code provides the legal authority for the position of Mayor.  This Chapter is based upon Iowa Code Chapter 372.
