Sponsor a Tree

Types of Trees

Shade Trees

Commonly taller than 50 feet a maturity, these trees cast cool shade, provide wildlife habitats and contribute an array of fall color to our autumn season.

Ornamental Trees

Intermediate in size, most ornamentals reach a height of 15 to 30 feet. They contribute interest to the landscape through flower, fruit, fall color and form.

These cone-bearing trees grow to heights greater than 50 feet and have needles, some on their twigs singularly or in groups. Most are evergreen, but some drop their needles in the fall.
As a proactive measure to begin replacing Ash trees that are targets of the tree-killing insect, Emerald Ash Borer, the City of Indianola is implementing a new donor/memorial tree program to help with their replacements.

Who Can Sponsor a Tree?

Individuals, families, businesses, civic groups and other organizations....anyone!  Sponsor a tree in honor of a loved one, to celebrate a special event or the birth of a child, or to recognize special people or groups.

How Much Does it Cost?

Your $225 donation includes the cost of the tree, as well as a memorial plaque.

Where Will the Trees Go?

In 2019, trees may be planted at McCord Park, South Park, Pickard Park including the campgrounds, and along the McVay Trail.

Is there a Deadline?

So that we may plant the trees when conditions are favorable in the spring, you will need to make your donation by Friday, March 31, 2019.
