  2. Tunes & Treats Series: John Krantz/Steve Charlson Duo

    John Krantz is a Des Moines-based pianist who is passionate about the jazz genre. Much of his repertoire is taken from standard show tunes and the Great American Songbook of the 1930’s, 40’s and 50’s, in addition to many of the jazz standards composed by the likes of Duke Ellington. His long-time musical cohort, bassist Steve Charlson, is an accomplished classically trained bassist who is also one of the most in-demand and best known jazz musicians in the state of Iowa. Charlson has worked with virtually every professional musician of caliber in the jazz genre in Des Moines for decades. Concert sponsored by the Music Performance Trust Fund through the cooperation of the Des Moines Musicians' Association. Dessert provided by Indianola Hy-Vee.

This student centered program, explores each child’s interests.Our Pre-K program will ignite an excitement for art through what children love to do most at this age, play. This experience starts setting foundations of art making, while supporting age appropriate skills including: hand/eye coordination • building confidence in one’s abilities • language development • social skills • support for beginning math, literacy & science skills • exploring and learning about the world around us • healthy self expression

  6. Starting Plants from Seeds

    If you would like to start your own tomato plants or a flat of bedding plants for your flower bed, this class is the one for you. You’ll learn how to start seeds, care for the seedlings and harden off the plants before setting them out in your garden. Instructors and Master Gardeners Royce and Sue Thompson have been gardening together for over 40 years.
