  1. Go! For Launch

    June 28, 2017, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Indianola Middle School

    Have you ever wanted to see a rocket launchup close? Well, now you can - and you can even build your own! In this week-long class, participants will build two of their own flyable rockets while they learn about how rockets fly and how to calculate the altitude their rocket reaches. On the last day of class, it’s “GO for Launch!” as we will fly all our rockets from our own Mission Control Center. Instructor David Dubczak is a computer and technology teacher at the Middle School, and a space and rocketry enthusiast who has also spent time as an educator at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.

  2. Junior Police Academy

    June 28, 2017, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ City Hall Training Room

    Join local police officers and learn what it’s like to work in law enforcement. See all the equipment used by officers, including patrol cars, computers, tasers, and more. Learn what it’s like to go on patrol. Help detectives solve crime using fingerprinting and footprint casting. Learn the importance of saying NO to drugs from a Drug Task Force Officer, join in a foot chase, learn basic defensive tactics and how to deal with bullies. Every student will receive a t-shirt, signed certificate, a CD of the week’s events and will participate in the academy graduation. Snacks will also be provided each day. We ask that if your child has attended this class in previous years that they do not enroll again, in order to provide this opportunity for as many as possible.

    Ever wanted to learn to shoot like Robin Hood? This is your chance! For all skill levels. Spend time with certified instructors learning about safety, parts of the bow, and how to shoot. You’ll have plenty of practice time on our archery range, learning how to shoot a bullseye. Test your skills with archery games and conquer our 3D range.

  7. Summer Movie Program

    June 29, 2017, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM @ Fridley Paramount Theaters, Indianola

    Purchase a punch card for $30 and get 10 admissions to Thursday matinees, plus a free bag of popcorn for each visit! Open to all ages. Valid Thursday matinee times only. Partial proceeds from ticket sales are donated to the Key Card Scholarship program for recreation scholarships.

  8. Rounded Minds Soccer

    June 29, 2017, 6:00 PM - 6:45 PM @ Activity Center

    This high-energy soccer program is led by experienced soccer coaches who introduce children to fundamental soccer skills by using creative games, positive reinforcement, and even songs, all while learning Spanish. Children will learn the basic rules of the game while practicing sportsmanship and teamwork. Children should wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes. Shin guards are also recommended. Classes will be held outside on the front lawn of the Activity Center.
