  1. Kids n' the Kitchen: Cooking Hearts Galore

    Join us for a fun class where we will create delicious recipes to fuel a healthy heart. Hy-Vee's kids cooking classes are a great way to get your children to try new foods while being hands-on in the kitchen. Your child will have the chance to learn about the importance of including all the food groups in his or her diet. Join Hy-Vee Dietitian Denise Boozell for a fun, hands-on hour of measuring, stirring, preparing and sampling nutrition-packed recipes. For boys and girls in 4th - 5th grades. A Hy-Vee Cooking Class Waiver is required for each participant. Signed waivers must be returned to the Parks & Recreation office by the registration deadline.

    Children shine bright in Creative Geniuses Art Program as they explore many mediums such as drawing, painting, and sculpture. Students use an artistic process that connects personal interests to inspire ideas, develop technical art skills, and empower creativity beyond the classroom. Our winter theme is IMAGINE THAT! Participants will be inspired by fantasy and the impossible. Art students will dream, hope, and innovate through a variety of art projects that bring their ideas to life. Students will learn that through art, anything is possible!

No impact based with isotonic and isometric principles for fast toning results. Also great for helping with aches and pains. Instructor is Alice Gaumer.

    The Zone is a drop-in program and students will check in with a supervisor when they arrive. Students leaving before 5:00 pm will also be asked to check out. Parents do not need to be present.   8. Youth Softball League Registration Deadline

    February 23, 2018, All Day @ Activity Center

    Adult volunteer coaches will teach softball skills through practices and games guided by Parks and Recreation staff. Whether you are just starting or have played for a few years, there is a place for you on a team. Change for 2018: In an effort to allow coaches and parents to plan ahead and know specifically what nights practices and games will be held, each team's practice schedule will be assembled by the Parks and Recreation Department. A practice and game schedule will be sent via email at least one week prior to when practices begin. Please consider the opportunity to positively influence our youth at a young age; volunteer coaches are vital to the success of this program! If interested in coach, please indicate so when registering. Thank you. Fee includes team t-shirt. Guaranteed availability through the registration deadline of Friday, February 23. After the deadline, spots may not be available. A late fee is also assessed after the registration deadline.

    Our yoga classes introduce children to yoga in a fun and engaging way! Students will come to know themselves in a safe space where they are able to fuild their skills in self-determination, calming and focusing of the mind, reflecting on their thoughts and feelings in different situations, and continuing to make mindful choices in a safe environment, all while gaining flexibility and strength. Please bring a yoga mat for each participant. Instructor Molly Sivertsen Bean has owned Fusion Fitness since 2006 and has conducted a variety of fitness and wellness courses since 1995. She is certified in RYT Yoga, ACSM Personal Trainer, and certified in Spinning, Kickboxing, and ACE. Molly has four children and lives in Indianola.
