Boards & Commissions

Residents are the cornerstone of Indianola. There are numerous Boards and Commissions that provide residents an opportunity to have an impact on our community.  These Boards and Commissions are an integral part of the City’s work towards our community’s goals as they advise the City Council on various areas such as land use, parks and recreation, and public safety.

All appointments are approved at a City Council meeting when terms have expired or vacancies occur. To be considered, interested individuals must be Indianola residents. Terms for the Boards and Commissions vary and are established by Municipal Code. The City of Indianola desires to have diverse representation on the Boards and Commissions to reflect the age, race/ethnicity and gender of the Indianola community.

  • Downtown Square Commission
    • 1 effective July 1, 2023
    • 1 effective immediately, expires 2025
  • Hometown Pride Committee
    • 4 effective July 1, 2023
  • Human Relations Commission
    • 6 effective immediately
  • Indianola Public Arts Commission
    • 1 effective immediately
    • 2 effective July 1, 2023
  • Planning and Zoning Commission
    • 1 effective July 1, 2023 (current term ends Feb 1, 2023)
